Weekend at Pine Top

Well we decided that it would be fun to get away for a couple of days with our friends, Audrey and Andy Cooper. Andy's dad has a cabin about 3 hours north in Pine Top, AZ. We had so much fun and every step was an adventure. Here's how it went....

First off, we were scheduled to depart 3:00pm on Friday afternoon, after a slight delay we left our home at 3:30. We stopped to get the boys ski gear from a near by shop and then we realized the only thing we brought to tie the boards to the top were little zipties! Not Good! So we drove around in traffic for about an hour looking for a store that carried rope. FYI Michaels only carries dinky little craft wire! Well we got out of Phoenix about 3 hours behind scheduled but were still so excited. We decided to stop in Globe for a little dinner. As we are sitting at the table Andy proceeds to inform us that he has left the cabin key back at home! Good job Andy! We had folding chairs, heaters, airmatresses, towels, toilet paper, but NO KEY! Good thing the cabin is actually on the market for sale because we were able to get in touch with a realtor who had a key in Pine Top. Finally at 10pm Friday night we pulled up to the cabin! We started a fire, played some games and then went to bed. The next morning we woke up to find tons, and tons of...

SNOW!!!!

Our car was covered...

The cabin was covered...
Even the mailbox was covered!

It had been a long time since I had seen a good snow so I was excited! And to think this is only 3 hours away from hot and steamy Phoenix!
Jake and Andy decided to hit the slopes! Ooooops! Jake didn't try on the pants he rented! They were sooooooo small! He looked so cute and was such a trooper. He wasn't going to let anything stop him!
So we headed up to the mountain to drop the dudes off for a day of snowboarding.
We gave them hugs and kisses,

and wished them good luck! (Audrey and Andy are so fashionable! haha)

Audrey, Kennedy and I spent the day getting the windshield wipers fixed, and driving around looking for the dang clubhouse to watch a movie! Oh yeah and Andy forgot to give us the key to the cabin! We had to keep ourselves busy till it was time to go back and pick up our men.
After returning home from snowboarding Jake thought it would be fun to introduce Kennedy to snow. She wasn't too sure about it at first.

So Jake helped her out and stuck her head in it!!!

And then layed her in it! She looks so happy huh? What a nice dad!

Oh yeah, then he dangled her from the loft! How sweet!

After a fun and eventful weekend we were excited to get home. All Jake could think about was how dirty his car was! He just couldn't wait to get home and wash it!

Thanks Coopers! We had a blast! Next stop, Rocky Point!

How funny was it when he said he had forgot the key? Man, Andy ALMOST ruined the trip. What I am most thankful for is the 16yr olds that let us watch DREAMGIRLS on there laptop.

Hahaha That sounds like sooo much fun!! Por little Kennedy with her head in the snow! I am glad you got to get a little trip in the way...its a good thing that you didn't get to hit the slopes...we know that would have gone bad REAL quick! LOL JK!! That was probably the best moment of my life Camille...you, your skis and poles, solemnly WALKING down the ski slope! HAHA LOVE YA!

Kennedy LAYING in the snow?
She's too young to get the "angel" concept.
Loved the snow pants, MANY pairs have been
outgrown by Jake over our "ski" years!
I think the point of this trip was to teach the
WOMEN to be incharge of THE KEY!!!
Key to a good weekend is "WHO'S got the KEY??!"
And renting snow equipment from now on MUST
take place AT the resort, not packed in the car...
Saved $ or time? Just go rent it THERE for the day.
Learned that when I used to take 11 kids ski-ing
and had NO room in car for "stuff"...
Glad you got to travel!

How fun! I hear you Kennedy! I am not too sure what I think of the snow either.

That picture of Jake is too much! The story of his life!

I loved the whole adventure. Isn't that just how life works out sometimes. Something you think will go so smoothly and easily turns into a huge complication. It looks like you guys made the best of it and that is how we all keep going on...haha. I love seeing your pictures. Kennedy is getting so big and so cute. We need to plan sometime to get together. Maybe we should make a road trip to AZ, I've never been there!
